Sliema Sliema is located between Valletta, where you find most of the historic sights, and St Julians, where you find the best nightlife on the island. Sliema is an ideal base from which to explore both. Here you find many shops, restaurants and bars. It's probably the best base for exploring the capital region. It has developed from being a resort for the rich to the centre of shopping and dining that it is today. The seaside promenade is great for walking, especially at night when it can seem like the whole of Malta has come out to walk its length.
